ABOUT THE COACH
SCOTT TAYLOR
Hi!
I am the Head Karate Coach & Executive Director of RSAC in Flin Flon, Manitoba; During my 30 yr. karate career I've taught and competed in Canada, USA, Bermuda, Korea & Japan. I also coach hockey, boxing, kickboxing and lacrosse depending on the season.
My coaching practices include not only protective and sport technique, but also the importance of ones’ role in society. Courteous interaction with others both in and out of competition, emotional self-control, & mental preparedness all play key parts in my programs.
My Coaching philosophy goes beyond the training mat as I strive to teach young athletes that being an ‘elite player’ is a huge responsibility. I believe in teaching that an 'elite player' covers their attitude at home, academics, and being socially responsible in addition to their
performance in the sport. I place high importance on the extra attributes of the athlete for example: their mannerisms, how they dress when arriving at a venue, first impressions when meeting Coaches, how they stand for our National Anthem and how they present themselves on social media.
‘Life Artistry’ is the basis of my Coaching philosophy.

PROGRAM BENEFITS
While protective & sport Karate are different, the training does overlap. The Rural Selects Athletic Club; a not-for-profit corporation, registered with Karate Manitoba; has a mission to develop & promote high performance athletes through short and long term programs. The goal with sport Karate is to train athletes to be eligible for provincial & national level competition. If this is for you, please continue reading to learn a bit more about our programs.
